When we were kids, our dad came up with the idea of the Easter Bunny leaving a trail of footprints all over our house. Under the cloak of night, he'd get out a bowl of simple baking flour, dip his bare knuckles into it and press tracks into the floor.

We'd wake up in the morning as excited as can be every year. We couldn't wait to see what path the Easter Bunny took around our home the night before. He'd even make tracks coming into our rooms, hopping up on our pillows next to our heads. The tracks would lead us to our Easter baskets and would eventually head out the back door, down the back steps, fading into the grass. It was just the best thing ever.

What began as a simple, heartfelt gesture has since blossomed into a cherished family tradition spanning 2 generations and counting. I did it for my kids every year and they absolutely loved it. It makes the holiday that much more special for all of us. And that was just the crude knuckle tracks!
